Today we repaired a sliding screen door that had plastic rollers.  We replaced them with metal rollers which roll much more smoothly and last much longer. The plastic rollers just don’t hold up to the type of use a sliding screen door takes, it is one of the busiest doors in the home. Most patio screen doors will last a long time if the right work is done to them and they are kept up, for example the rollers should be replaced every couple of years if the are made out of plastic, plastic rollers do not hold up more than that.

I a screen door is not sliding well the problem could be the rollers and if it is they either have to be repaired or replaced, if you need to have them replaced  you have 2 choices 1. plastic rollers “which sometimes you do not have a choice”  or metal rollers.  Most door manufacturers make screens with plastic rollers and there is no other choice for you to choose from and some have metal rollers, these are your best choice because the ride high and don’t touch the track as much as plastic wheels do and second the last much longer than plastic.

Today we did a customers home in the city of Camarillo and the clients problem was that his sliding screen doors was falling of the track, looking at the screen door closely we found out the the screen was falling of the track because the little plastic rollers had worn down to almost half the size, so we simply replaced them , adjusted them and within 30 minute the screen door was sliding like a new door again without the expense of buying a hole new screen door.
