Jammed screen door repair

Checking and Cleaning

The best thing to do when your sliding screen door is jammed is to check several things to find the problem.  First you want to make sure your tracks and channels are cleaned and oiled properly.  For cleaning we recommend using a hose to hose off the dirt and little rock from the tracks, you don’t have to take the patio screen off to do this, just wash away dirt and let it dry.

lubricating

For lubrication on the track we recommend once tracks are cleaned and dry, spray some wd40 on bottom and top channel and on wheels as well for best results.  Then it’s time for roller adjustment and you will need a screw driver.  turning clockwise the door will lift the frame off the track and set it free to slide properly.  If you decide you would like some help doing this please give me a call and I’ll make sure you have a perfect screen before I leave.  My areas are! Spring time window screen repair

When the warm Spring weather comes around and you open all your windows, you realize it’s time for screen repair.  Nobody gets away without having to replace a screen somewhere in the house, it’s just the way it id.  One of the things you should ad to your spring cleaning list is cleaning screens. When cleaning a screen be gentle because if the screen is old there is a chance that the mesh is brittle and will rip, Also the metal frame may be cracked and applying any pleasure with finish breaking the frame.

Screens with wood frame should not be wash with water because the frame will warp and it will not fit back in the window trim.  Rescreening is an option on ripped, torn or cut screens and if you find any little holes. You can patch a screen with mesh tape.

Screen repair does not have to be difficult or expensive if you take your time and do it right. With just some simple hand tools laying around the house you can repair a screen if you take your time and do the right research.  Even if you need to repair screen frame you will find some in any local hardware store and you wont need to buy any fancy tools to get the job done right.

Does you sliding screen door fall off track?

The main purpose of the sliding screen door is to slide on the track, if it falls off then the screen is not working properly and need to be fixed. You should not have to force the screen across the opening, if it is sticking or getting caught it probably needs to be adjusted. Sometimes the rollers are not metal and may be worn down.

If the screen door is fairly new and the wheels are not raised enough for the screen to glide right it will fall off track and stick. Try reaching over at the bottom raising slots which are next to the roller and with a fillips screw driver turn clock wise to lift the patio door, if this does not help then you may need to have a mobile service come to your home and give you a free estimate. I service: Thousand Oaks, Lynn Ranch, Westlake Village, Oak Park, Agoura Hills, Lake Shearwood, Newbury Park, Camarillo, Conejo Valley, Moorpark, Happy Camp, Santa Rosa, Pleasant Valley, Simi Valley, Woodranch.

Before buying a sliding screen door ask yourself, Is this patio screen doors going to be used a lot or very little?  If this door your looking for is going to take a bit of abuse you should look for an extra thick frame, if not chances are you will be replacing it.  The part that usually goes first is the part where the plastic handle is.  If you have kids and pets you will probably want something more heavy-duty that last longer.  If  you have a view there is also clear screen mesh that won’t block it. The clearest mesh is called charcoal. Pet Screen is the extra thick screen mesh for sliding screen doors and it is the strongest screen mesh sold.  It is made out of fiber glass and is 7 times stronger than the ordinary window screen material.  Dogs, kids and even wild animals will not stand a chance with Pet Screen.

Having a mobile screen company install a sliding screen door for you:

If you call a screen company you will need to make sure that they are a “mobile screen company” and  that they work in your area. A mobile screen company comes to you and does all the work on-site ensuring that everything is done right the first time and the measurements are as exact as possible.  Measuring the opening where the screen is going to be installed is most important and there is a technic to it. The experience the Mobile Screen Service has and how they guarantee their work is also very important.  We do not recommend buying sliding screen doors with plastic handles an plastic rollers.
